Tutorial: Yellow and Black Double Wing

When I visited my nearest NYX counter recently I picked up the Vivid Brights Liner in Vivid Halo and remembered a look that Desi Perkins did a long time ago (link here) that I wanted to recreate which is this double wing with black and yellow liner.

After priming my eyelids and applying a cream coloured eyeshadow (as usual) I used a MAC 224 brush and the Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Creme Brulee and buffed this into the crease using forwards and backwards motions and then bringing it down onto the lid as well. I wanted the liner to be the focus of this look so I kept the eyeshadow to a minimum but I still wanted some depth and dimension in the crease.

Then using the NYX Vivid Brights Liner in Vivid Halo I did a winged eyeliner thicker than I would usually as I was doubling up on colours. This liner was way more pigmented than I expected (I only used one layer) and went on super easy as the tip was very precise.

After the yellow liner was dry I used my trusty Morphe Gel Liner in Slate with a MAC 210 brush to create a smaller wing closer to my lash line than the yellow, for this step it's better to start off thinner and work on it to get the desired shape which should be parallel to the yellow liner.

After the liner was dry I popped on some mascara and a pair of Ardell Demi Wispie Lashes, I kept the lashes as natural as possible so that the liner was the main focus. Finishing the look off I used a pencil brush to apply Laura Geller Gilded Honey into my inner corner.

Let me know if you've tried the NYX Vivid Brights Liners in the comments!

    Favourite Drugstore Products

A few days ago I realised I tend to talk about mostly high end products which is strange because there are a lot of drugstore products that I love too! So I thought I'd do a big fat post on my favourite products from the drugstore. Drugstore products for me are products you can get from Boots, Superdrug etc. so let's jump right in!

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer. This is not only my favourite drugstore concealer, but my favourite concealer ever. It's a great coverage, blends out beautifully and it's not too thick and cakey!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream. I think these are really good quality for the price I mean £5.50 come on?! These are so popular and I have a few shades of these and the nudes are amazing! With drugstore liquid lipsticks, sometimes the nude shades can be quite warm toned whereas with these the nude shades are actually pretty neutral which is amazing.

NYX Intense Butter Gloss. These are a new favourite of mine! They are so pigmented and NOT STICKY! Everytime I find a lipgloss that is not sticky it warms my heart because sticky lipgloss is definitely one of my pet peeves when it comes to makeup. My favourite shade currently is Peanut Brittle.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Pencil. I don't tend to reach for these very often but as a drugstore lipliner they are pretty nice and not too dry. With some drugstore lip liners I find that they're dry and they drag on the lips and make my lips sore before I've even applied any lipstick. The shade Tiramisu is a great lipliner to use with MAC Velvet Teddy.

NYX Liquid Illuminator in Gleam. This is also a new favourite of mine. If you read my Feel Unique Haul last week it was featured in there, I've been using this pretty much everyday as a primer underneath my foundation and it's beautiful. I wouldn't wear this shade on it's own as it is a rose gold shade meaning that on it's own it does make my skin look a red/pink, but as a primer it is beautiful!

Ardell Demi Wispie lashes. I thought I'd include a pair of lashes in my favourite drugstore products post and these are my particular favourite. I love using these lashes when I'm using coloured eyeshadows and I want to use a natural lash so that you can see the actual eyeshadow itself rather than using a dramatic lash.

Those are my favourite drugstore products. Let me know what yours are in the comments below! See you soon!

    Summer Sunset Eyes

Back again with another eye tutorial! I love this combination of orange and gold on the eyes especially for summer now that the weather is starting to pick up here in the UK.

This complete look is using only eyeshadows from the Morphe 35O palette. I love this palette so much and I've been using it so much recently it ended up in my May Favourites post.

To start off, I applied concealer all over my eyelids from my lashline to underneath my brow and then set this with the eyeshadow marked number 1 in the picture above. Using this light cream shade allowed me to start off my eyeshadow with a blank canvas.

Next I used a MAC 224 brush and the eyeshadow marked number 2 in the palette and started in the middle of my crease and used backwards and forwards motions to blend this transition shade, and when there was less product on the brush I blended this up just above my crease onto my brow bone. When doing a spotlight eye such as this one it is important not to blend your eyeshadow too far out on your outer corner as we are trying to keep this eye look rounded and not winged.

Next up I used a MAC 217 brush and the shadow marked number 3 and blended this directly into the crease keeping it just below the transition shade. I then used the same brush to pack this shade onto the inner and outer corners of my eyes. This shadow is what really makes this eye look have that bright orange look.

Taking a Morphe M521 brush and the shadow marked number 4 I lightly blended this into the inner and outer corners of my lid, this was purely to give the look more dimension but I didn't use too much as I wanted the focus to be more on the orange.

I then used the burnt gold eyeshadow marked number 5 in the palette and packed this onto the centre of the lid using a MAC 242 brush and blended the edges out with the MAC 217 we used earlier.

Using a Morphe E19 brush I used the orange shade (number 3) and blended this on the lower lash line. Popped on a thin line of Morphe gel liner in Slate, some mascara and applied some Ardell demi wispie lashes. Demi wispie lashes are great for when you want your eyeshadow to show through your lashes but still want to have defined lashes.

Hope you enjoyed this, let me know what your favourite eyeshadow looks are this summer! See you soon!

    Spring Pink

Thinking back to about a year ago made me realise that I used no colour whatsoever, I was a neutrals girl completely! But times have changed and I think now is definitely the time of year to experiment and incorporate more colour into our makeup.

After priming my eyelids from brow to lash line with concealer and setting it with a cream coloured eyeshadow I use a MAC 224 brush and the Makeup Geek eyeshadow (of course) in the shade Sorbet. Using backwards and forwards motions to begin with, I focus this directly in the crease and when there is less product on the brush I use circular motions to take it up to the upper crease.

Using a MAC 217 brush and the Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Cupcake I follow the same steps as previously however I don't take this colour up to the upper crease I just focus it directly in the crease itself using backwards and forwards motions.

Next taking my new little baby the Morphe 521 brush I focus the same Cupcake eyeshadow on the outer corner and the inner corner of the eye only leaving the centre of the lid free from any product.

To give the eyeshadow more dimension I use the same Morphe 521 brush and the Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Bitten and layer this over the Cupcake shade on the outer and inner corner of the eyes.

Next is the star of the show, Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Whimsical. Using a MAC 242 brush I pack this in the centre of the lid going no higher than the crease. Because this eyeshadow is foiled it doesn't need an eyeshadow primer. I also use the same eyeshadow with a MAC 219 pencil brush to create the inner corner highlight too.

I finish off this eyeshadow look I used the Morphe gel liner in Slate, Benefit Rollerlash mascara and a pair of Ardell Demi Wispie lashes. I didn't want any lashes that were too full as I wanted the eyeshadow to be the main focus.

All Makeup Geek eyeshadows (from left to right) Sorbet, Cupcake, Whimsical and Bitten.

Brushes (from left to right) MAC 224, Morphe 521, MAC 217 and MAC 242
