WHY I HAVEN'T WORN FOUNDATION FOR 3 MONTHS

    Hey lovelies! I'm back.

A little bit of a different post topic today - and probably not something you'd see on a beauty/makeup blog but this is something I've just got to share with you. 2 weeks ago I was in beautiful Ibiza - slathered in aftersun, fluffy hotel robe on, pack of Cheetos in my hand and rummaging through my makeup bag getting ready to head to Ibiza town.

Whilst I had my head in my makeup bag, I realised I didn't actually have a liquid foundation with me. When was the last time I saw a bottle of foundation in my makeup bag? When did I run out? Why didn't I repurchase?

It then hit me like a ton of bricks that I hadn't worn my trusty foundation for 3 whole months. 3 months! That's a long time for me, considering that I've been wearing foundation since I was about 13 and we're talking full coverage as well, I couldn't get my head around why I'd got rid of possibly the most staple item in my makeup bag.

In 2018, I've been investing so much into my skin. I've been really perfecting my skincare routine and finding what works for me, I have a real passion for skincare and love trying new products - but I have my staples that I always go back to. I've also been having a Guinot Hydradermie Facial every 4 weeks for the past 7 months which has been a MASSIVE help for my skin.

Now I know I might sound so annoying when I say this but I've actually been making a lot of changes to my diet this year which has had a massive effect on my skin. In March I joined Slimming World and lost 13lbs since, I don't really like to say it's a diet, it's more of a lifestyle for me now and I think by Slimming World making me choose healthier choices when it comes to what I eat - the amount of good foods I've been putting in my body have had such an impact on my skin, the majority of my meals are packed with loads of vegetables and I'm always snacking on fruits and healthier options (don't get me wrong I'm still having curries and cake now and again) but these changes have changed my skin so much.

Another tip which has led to my skin being at it's best is water. If I could only give one piece of advice for the rest of my life it would be, drink 1-2 litres of water a day. I have around 2-3 litres a day, which I have to for medical reasons but now it just comes natural to me and water is my favourite drink ever! I can't stand not having water with me at all times (I'm such a saddo honestly sometimes I go on a night out and drink water all night I love it lmao).

If you find it hard to drink that volume of water in a day I'd really recommend getting one of these Hydratem8 Water Bottles - they give you timings on so you can track your water throughout the day to make sure you have 2 litres! You'll never see me without mine it's the best thing I ever bought!

SO WHAT HAVE I BEEN USING INSTEAD OF FOUNDATION?

(In this picture: Quay Australia X Desi High Key Mini Sunglasses & Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel and a lash extension because was I gonna edit that out? nah)

Well this is where we get to the juicy bit! Because I've been looking after my skin so well, having facials, eating well and drinking lots of water - I've been ditching the full coverage - I'M OVER IT! My favourite product to use is the Soleil Tan de Chanel. It's not a foundation - it's described as a 'Bronzing Makeup Base' basically a cream bronzer! But I've been buffing this all over my skin using a My Kit Co My Flawless Powder Brush and URGH it's amazing.

I've actually been using it for a few years now but only in the way you would use a cream bronzer to warm up the skin - but changing the way I use this has just upped the game for me, now I just buff it into my skin and it leaves a light to medium coverage which is perfect for holidays and it takes so much more time of my routine in a morning and when I've got clients in at 5/6am it works wonders!

I find a lot of light to medium coverage foundations are...terrible, they've always looked patchy on me. BB creams? I've yet to find a brand that doesn't have more than 3 shades. But this product has just really raised the bar for me and the best part is your skin still looks like skin! You know when you're on holiday and you come off the beach and your skin has been blessed by the sun? It's that in a tub without the UV Rays.

The only issue I have is that there it only one shade, I wish there were so many more shades - I would love to have my kit full of this!

    ABH Peachy Contour Pan

I'll be intrigued to see how long I use this throughout Autumn/Winter as that's always my full coverage, full beat season. But for now I'm absolutely loving my makeup routine it's so quick in the morning and thanks to my lifestyle changes I don't have to hide behind my full coverage anymore.

Quick Tip: If you buy Soleil Tan De Chanel from FeelUnique.com you get free delivery and 2 free samples with your order - you're welcome.

Do you look after your skin from the inside? Do you feel like you can't wear anything other than full coverage? Or are you using the Soliel Tan De Chanel? Leave a comment below and let me know! See you on the next post!

    Autumn Eyeshadow Picks

There is nothing I love more than Autumn and Winter. Keep your summer! I love the cold weather! I get more giddy when October comes round every year, I've even dedicated a Pinterest board to this season and I am not ashamed.

There are many things I love about autumn and winter but I do love all the autumn makeup! Of course you can wear any colours you want all year round - I certainly do! But when plum lipsticks and burnt orange eyeshadows come out to play, now that is my favourite.

Recently I've fallen back in love with Makeup Geek eyeshadows. We all love them, they're trusty and affordable. I've picked out a few of my favourites which I'll definitely be using this season.

Top row from left to right (Americano, Chickadee and Cocoa Bear).

Middle row from left to right (Bitten, Havoc and Brown Sugar).

Bottom row from left to right (Frappé, Confection and Peach Smoothie).

My little collection of course is based on warm browns and I love bringing back the burgundy and dusty pinks too!

Let me know what your autumn eyeshadow picks are for this season in the comments! See you soon!

    Spring Pink

Thinking back to about a year ago made me realise that I used no colour whatsoever, I was a neutrals girl completely! But times have changed and I think now is definitely the time of year to experiment and incorporate more colour into our makeup.

After priming my eyelids from brow to lash line with concealer and setting it with a cream coloured eyeshadow I use a MAC 224 brush and the Makeup Geek eyeshadow (of course) in the shade Sorbet. Using backwards and forwards motions to begin with, I focus this directly in the crease and when there is less product on the brush I use circular motions to take it up to the upper crease.

Using a MAC 217 brush and the Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Cupcake I follow the same steps as previously however I don't take this colour up to the upper crease I just focus it directly in the crease itself using backwards and forwards motions.

Next taking my new little baby the Morphe 521 brush I focus the same Cupcake eyeshadow on the outer corner and the inner corner of the eye only leaving the centre of the lid free from any product.

To give the eyeshadow more dimension I use the same Morphe 521 brush and the Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Bitten and layer this over the Cupcake shade on the outer and inner corner of the eyes.

Next is the star of the show, Makeup Geek eyeshadow in Whimsical. Using a MAC 242 brush I pack this in the centre of the lid going no higher than the crease. Because this eyeshadow is foiled it doesn't need an eyeshadow primer. I also use the same eyeshadow with a MAC 219 pencil brush to create the inner corner highlight too.

I finish off this eyeshadow look I used the Morphe gel liner in Slate, Benefit Rollerlash mascara and a pair of Ardell Demi Wispie lashes. I didn't want any lashes that were too full as I wanted the eyeshadow to be the main focus.

All Makeup Geek eyeshadows (from left to right) Sorbet, Cupcake, Whimsical and Bitten.

Brushes (from left to right) MAC 224, Morphe 521, MAC 217 and MAC 242
